Special Event January 17: South Florida Museum,
Bradenton Friday 4 - 6
Special viewing for our group $9" Little Buildings:
Architecture From a Child's Perspective," In
the Museum's Second Floor Curator's Choice Gallery.
The exhibition includes a wide variety of vintage
and modern toy buildings, dollhouses and associated
figures and vehicles from the mid-19th through the
20th century, including unusual examples like the
original Lincoln cabin by Lincoln Logs. A section
of the exhibition examines the modern concept of transportable
toy buildings, as society became an automobile centric
experience in the 1960s. Additionally, the exhibition
looks at the various materials used to create toy
buildings from paper and cardboard to metal and of
course now plastic, with a special emphasis on the
dollhouse in all its forms. While the exhibit itself
is "hands-off", visitors will have the chance
to play with a few examples of dollhouses, a fire
station and a modular dollhouse made of plywood that
includes plans you can take home and build yourself
THIS EXHIBIT STARTS IN NOVEMBER AND WILL RUN UNTIL
APRIL 22 FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE FLORIDA RESIDENTS
